This tour will follow the friendship
highway to Lhasa . On the way, we will stop at the major highlighted
places of Tibet , Sakye, Shigatse & Gyantse. Sakye is one of
the biggest and most important Monasteries for Sakyapa sect of Buddhism.
The Monastery is situated 21 km off the friendship highway. Shigatse
is the second largest city of Tibet as well as the seat of Panchen
Lama. Gyantse is another attraction of this tour, the city used
to be one of the major trading hubs of Tibet . We visit Khumbum
stupa, Gyantse Dzong and Palkor Chode Monastery in Gyantse. From
Gyantse we drive to Lhasa via Yamdruk Tso (turquoise Lake ). In
Lhasa , we will make a two days sightseeing tour which will cover
Potala Palace , Norbulinkha Palace (the summer palace of Dalai Lama
), Jokhang temple, Sera and Drepung Monastery.
On day 8th, you will fly back to Kathmandu or onward to mainland
China . This tour can be operated in reverse (fly in/drive out)
too.

TOUR DEPARTURE FROM KATHMANDU : Every TUESDAY & SATURDAY
Day 1: Kathmandu / Nyalam (3750 m.)
Drive from Kathmandu to the Tibetan border at Kodari (Zhangmu).
Continue up the steep switch back road to Nyalam.
Day 2: Nyalam / Lhatse (3950 m.)
A remarkable day's drive across the Tibetan plateau with Spectacular
Mountain views from Lalung-La pass (5050m). Passing through the
town of Tingri there is more views of Mt. Everest and Cho-Oyu.
Day 3: Lhatse / Shigatse (3900 m.)
En route, visit Shakya Monastery before crossing the Lalung-La (4500m)
and continuing across the plains to Shigatse.
Day 4: Shigatse / Gyantse (3950 m.)
After visiting the Tashilimpu Monastery, it's a short drive to Gyantse
with its amazing sights - Khumbum, Palkor Chode Monastery and Gyantse
Dzong.
Day 5: Gyantse / Lhasa (3650 m.)
The highlight of this day is the beautiful turquoise lake, Yamdruk
- Tso. After crossing the Kamba- La and the Yarlung ( Brahmaputra
) River, the journey ends in Lhasa .
Day 6: Lhasa
Guided sightseeing tour of Lhasa - Sera Monastery, Jokhang temple
and Barkhor Bazaar.
Day 7: Lhasa
Guide sightseeing tour of Lhasa - Drepung Monastery and Potala Palace

Day 8: Kathmandu
Drive to Airport and fly back to Kathmandu . |
