It is advisable to get travel insurance. We can arrange it for you but you must let us know if you want us to. Insurance cover is not automatic and insurance is not included in the trip cost.
Hotels used in the formation of our tours.
The hotel accommodation we use is based on our experience of hotels in Nepal over the years. They have been chosen for their friendliness of staff, efficiency and their focus on providing good service. Every hotel we use is at least of three star standard. All itineraries, which feature Chitwan National Park , include accommodation inside the park.
Passport and visa
All visitors to Nepal except the Indian/Chinese/Pakistan/Srilankan/Bangladesh/Maldives & Bhutan nationals need an entry visa for Nepal . The Royal Nepalese Embassies or consulates abroad can issue a visa before your departure or alternatively a visa can be acquired at the immigration on arrival in Kathmandu . Please check with your embassy regarding cost. For many countries the present cost of the visa is US $ 30 for two months. This can be renewed on monthly basis (US $ 30) up to five months in any one year.

Banks
Most banks are open for transactions between 10.00 am to 14.30 pm.closing at 5p.m. They are closed on Saturday and Sunday and other holidays. Cash points money transfers are easily available in Kathmandu and Pokhara..
Air Port Tax
Airport tax 1356 NRS (US $ 19 approx) are levied on departure to SAARC (south Asian) countries and 1695 NRS (US $ 24) to other international destinations. Domestic flights are subject to RS. 170 (US $ 2.40 approx.) airport tax.
Restaurants & food
All varieties of food are available, representing food from many parts of the world, in particular Chinese, Indian, Continental, Japanese, Tibetan. Restaurants range from simple and local to five star services with a lot of choice for good food in between.
Foreign exchange
foreign currencies must be exchanged through the banks or authorized foreign exchange counters and Hotels. The rate of exchange is determined by Nepal Rastra Bank and is announced in the press daily.
Nepalese currency (rupee) is divided into 100 Paisa. Bank notes come in denominations of 1000, 500, 250,100, 50, 25, 20, 10, (5, 2 and 1 rupees slowly being replaced by coins). Approximate exchange rate is USD 1=71.65 (April 2005).

Official Holiday
Saturday and Sunday are the weekend holidays in Nepal for government departments. Many other businesses are open 7 days a week. Nepal is renowned for its festivals which in turn means holidays!

Government and private offices open from 0900 to 1700 PM.

There is good Internet access in all the major cities.
