Day 1: Arrive
in Paro / sightseeing tour:
Flight to Paro, we will meet you at the airport and transfer to
your hotel, tour briefing and head out for sightseeing tour.
National Museum
(Ta-Dzong).
This was originally the Watch Tower of the Paro Rinpung Dzong. It
was converted into the National Museum in 1968. It is located on
top of a hill above the Paro Dzong overlooking Paro valley and river.
Paro market:
On the way back from the Museum, take a leisurely stroll
in the Paro market and along the beautiful Paro River .
Day 2: Paro sightseeing tour and drive to Thimphu
Drugyal Dzong :
A ruined fortress which is 16 km away from Paro town. Although in
ruins, this Fortress has historical significant. It was here that
the Bhutanese finally defeated the invading Tibetans and drove them
back. From here, the peaks of Mount Jomulhari (7329 m. ) "
Mountain of Goddess " can be seen on a clear day.
Rinpung Dzong :
This massive fortress is located in the Paro valley. Today, this
fortress houses the Administrative seat of the district of Paro.
The central tower (Utse) of the fortress is one of the most beautiful
in Bhutan with its superb wood carved. It was built in 1645 AD.
Afternoon drive to Thimphu (capital city). The drive takes
approximately 2 hours (65 km.). Check in at the hotel.
Day- 3: Thimphu sightseeing
tour:
Memorial Chorten: This is the memorial Chorten of the
third King of Bhutan who reigned the country from 1952-1972.
Painting and wood Craft School
:
Painting and Wood Craft School where traditional art and
craft is still kept alive.
National Library:
Ancient manuscripts are preserved as well as visit the
Handicrafts Emporium where Bhutanese textiles and other arts and
crafts are displayed.
Simtokha Dzong :
This is one of the oldest fortresses in Bhutan located about 6 km
from Thimphu . It contains the largest Monastic schools in the country.
Tashichho Dzong : The main secretariat building.
This massive fortress houses part of the government Ministries,
the office of the King and the Throne Room.
Day 4: Thimphu sightseeing
- then drive to Paro
Dechencholing:
We drive to Do Chula pass (26 km from Thimphu ), you can
see some awesome views of the Eastern Himalayan mountain ranges.
After that, we drive to Dechencholing, which is situated 5 km from
Thimphu . From Dechencholing, we can see the palace of the Queen
Mother where all the luncheons and banquets for the Head of the
States and other important guests are hosted. Also, visit a beautiful
private monastery on top of the hill.
Satsam Chorten:
This Chorten is situated 10 km. from Paro. From there, you can view
the beautiful picturesque view of Taktsang Monastery "Tigers
Nest" perched on a rocky ledge with a sheer drop of nearly
800 ft.
Day 5: Departure
Transfer to Paro airport and flight back to your home country.
